THE NEED FOR SAFE AFFORDABLE TRANSPORTATION

The cost of transportation is second to housing when considering large household expenditures. For many, these expenses are so high they are caught between having to choose a roof over their heads or transportation to their employment – without which they would be unable to provide for their families. No matter the decision, the enormous loss which follows is detrimental. Increasing access to safe, reliable, and affordable means of public transportation would ease the burden for lower-income individuals on relying and paying for an automobile in order to access employment and amenities, while prioritizing housing for themselves and their families.
